The Communication Center

Com CenterThis is where the magic happens, folks. Or really just where I get the writing done. I am trying to travel light on this trip I can’t imagine much lighter than this.  What we have here are an iPhone 3gs, a Toshiba NB205 and a Moleskine notebook.

The iPhone will be good for quick snaps, updates to twitter, city navigation and communicating on the go.

I just got the Toshiba netbook. It is pretty puny stats wise compared to the desktop I’m used to, but it should suffice for blog posting and general internet use. However it only runs Lightroom with a lot of complaining. This is actually ideal for me since I want to spend most of my time taking pictures, not going through them. The netbook is primarily for pulling images off cards and backing them up. I’ll do the majority of the processing when I get home in October. Making it frustrating to get lost on the computer is the goal. Oh hey there is a little webcam on here too… I guess I could use it for skype and stuff. Hm.

And finally the trusty Moleskine. Notes, sketches, plans and checklists go here. You just can’t beat the pen based interface on these. The power just never goes out on them. Amazing. The handwriting recognition can be a little shaky sometimes, but overall it is good.
